A Real Need For Smoking Receptacles

Smokers of the world listen up!  You will be much more appreciated and liked if you will remember to always discard of your cigarettes appropriately.  Many business establishments provide smoking receptacles where you can safely throw away your cigarette butts.  They are there for a reason – to protect the environment, keep it looking beautiful and to keep your fellow citizens safe all at the same time.

Cigarette butt receptacles are also known as ash urns, smokers waste receptacles, cigarette butt cans and ash/trash combination bins.  Whatever they are called, they are a place where cigarettes can safely be discarded and extinguished.  These receptacles keep the environment looking much better by eliminating those ugly smoldering and smashed cigarette butts from sidewalks and other public places.

Each type of cigarette receptacle has its own unique features.  All are designed to put out a cigarette safely and keep it contained until it is picked up and properly discarded.  Some need water, sand or rocks to keep them stable while others are anchored in some way to the ground or surface below.  Most receptacles can hold thousands of cigarette butts before they have to be emptied.  Some have elongated “necks” that limit any oxygen from entering the bin.  This design extinguishes cigarettes quickly and the “neck” is wide enough so that clogging is kept to a minimum.  These well-designed receptacles have a wide base that keeps the bin stable, making other anchoring techniques unnecessary.

Today’s business owners want to keep their grounds looking pristine at all times.  This is the reason that they put cigarette disposal cans at discrete places on their property.  They do this to encourage smokers to discard of their butts appropriately.  While most businesses discourage smoking, they realize that there are smokers in the world who will discard of their cigarettes properly if they have a convenient place to do it.  Smoking receptacles are there for a specific purpose:  To rid the area of litter while protecting the fragile environment surrounding it.  It also makes good “business sense” to provide them!
