What About Ashtrays For Outside?

Really, is there a need to have ashtrays for outside?  The answer, of course, is “yes” because there is nothing quite as disturbing as seeing cigarette butts littering up sidewalks and surrounding areas.  Receptacles for old cigarettes are a must in any public place so that the area stays as beautiful as it was meant to be.  Smoldering and discarded cigarette butts have no place on the ground in any public area.  They need to be contained discretely in some kind of cigarette butt receptacle.

Most ashtrays that are suitable for outside use are safe, clean and weatherproof.  They are designed to be appealing and to be used by people who smoke outside.  Because smoking is banned in most businesses, it is absolutely necessary to have a place for smokers to discard their cigarette butts.  If cigarette receptacles aren’t available, then smokers have no alternative but to throw their cigarette butts on the ground.  As long as there are smokers, there is a need to supply them with a place to put their “butts”.

Outdoor ashtrays have some significant advantages because they can be placed in designated smoking areas.  This makes it less likely that non-smokers will be exposed to second-hand smoke if they stay away from those areas.  Smokers can be “isolated” from others, keeping their bad habit to themselves.  Providing ashtrays for them keeps the cigarette litter contained and makes it much easier to keep the area clean.  Also, the risk of fire is reduced because most receptacles have fireproof liners.

Outdoor ashtrays come in a variety of styles and colors.  They can be discretely placed and are made to blend in quite well with their surroundings.  While they aren’t the solution for quit-smoking programs, they are helpful in keeping the environment safe for everyone.  They eliminate harmful toxins from seeping into drainage systems and being carried to waterways where these toxins are detrimental to plant and wildlife.

Yes, it is essential (if not mandatory) that we have the appropriate ashtrays for outside until smoking is completely eliminated.  As this is probably not going to happen any time soon, providing smokers with a “shelter” for their discarded cigarette butts is a fact of life!
